  1. In Polish you would pronounce 'Polowa' as 'Po-lo-vha' which means either 'a half' or 'a lady from the field'. I guess, in Ukrainian the meaning is the same.

  2. The pronunciation in Polish would be like this:

    P - like in "plan",

    o - like in "orbit".

    l* - like W in "what".

o - just the same as the first O,

w - W should be read like V, just like in, for instance, "vein".

    a - like in "army".

l* - Just being accurate to the Polish alphabet, you should write ł instead regular l.

P.S as to "Polowy", everything is just the same. "y" should be read just as it is in "system"

  3. the W is pronounced as a V

    Poh- lo-vah   poh-lo-vee

  4. i'm ukrainian. :]

    so it's pohlohwaah. i guess. x)

but english ppl would say it powlowah.

since all languages have diff sounds. :]

    why? xD

  5. Agreed with the above, for Polish, at least.

    po-WO-vah (female version - Polowa)

    po-WO-vih (male version - Polowy)

The L has a slash through it, and, counterintutively for English speakers, that has a "w" sound.

The W sounds like the English V.

And the final Y in the male version is like the "I" in brick. (not an EE/long-E sound)
