  1. From when Britain had a big navy and they used the term "Mate" prefixed with Boson, Master etc and the term has stuck. Hope this helps mate.

    If you're not from England.....don't say that.....you'll sound silly.

    In fact,  I think I might trade mark it, mate

    I use mate or bloke for pretty much anyone- it's easier than names!
