  1. Kindergarden = 5 yrs old

    ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    1st Grade = 6

    2nd Grade = 7

    3rd Grade = 8

    4th Grade = 9

    5th Grade = 10

    JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

    6th Grade = 11

    7th Grade = 12

    8th Grade = 13

    HIGH SCHOOL

    9th Grade = 14 Freshman

    10th Grade = 15 Sophomore

    11th Grade = 16 Junior

    12th Grade = 17 Senior

  2. Its starts with Kindergarden, which is optional in some states.  That is usually for five year olds, then its first through twelveth.  Grades 1-5 is elementary school.  Some place sixth grade is included in elementary school other places it is included in what is called middle school which is grades six through eight.  If sixth grade is included in elementary school the grades seven and eight are called junior high.  Then grades nine through twelve are called high school.  Grade nine is also called freshmen, tenth is sophomore, eleventh is a junior, and twelveth is called a senior.  If you attend college, which is optional there is no "grades"  the titles from high school repeat.  Hope this helps.

  3. Very similiar... 1st grade, 2nd grade, etc.  In high school (9th-12th grade), its also referred to as freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years.  1st grade starts when a child is about 6 years old, and ends with 12th grade at about 17 or 18 years old.
