In every deck of cards, the king of hearts is always stabbing himself in the head; suicide. Why?

I remember reading about this in The Book Of Useless Information (lol). But I forgot why. Help?

I think it is because back in the day of kings and queens kings did kill them self's and just like the king of diamonds he has a axe to the back of his head to signify that hes being executed and as for the king of spades he has a leaf in his right hand so that means hes a king of peace and as for the king of clubs (which is my fav king of all) has a cross in his had to signify the crusades or wars
