I'm writing a book about mermaids, but I was wondering if in other books, movies and shows, do the mermaids grow old?

Can you give me examples with your answers, please? Thanks =]

  1. in the little mermaid there was that fish (i like that fish) p.s. (i dont like the lobster though)

  2. The thing about mermaids, and with other mythical creatures like vampires as well, is that there are so many different perceptions of them that you could pretty much do whatever you wanted with them and get away with it.  You could keep your mermaids the same age forever, or turn them into seahorses with the snap of a finger. Because they're fictional and mysterious, you can make them your own.

  3. In Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid," the mermaids typically don't have immortal souls, but can live up to 300 years before they become foam on the ocean.

  4. I don´t think so..never read about a mermaid dying of old age...

  5. Well this is sort of a lame example but in Disneys "the little Mermaid" Ariels Father is an old guy! And she has all those sisters.. so we have to assume that if he had kids, he was younger at some point!  But ...lol I just realized he's a merman isn't he.. but still, they do portray baby mermaids and so on in that movie.
