In forensics- when examining hair, can you tell if it is child versus adult?

I've been watching the news about the hair found in Casey Anthony's car. They say that it showed signs of decomposition- They say that it could be Casey's hair and not her daughter's. Besides nuclear DNA, could they classify the hair as adult versus child
