  2. The anime doesn't really lead to the manga. The manga is still ongoing, and is very different from the anime after the first few volumes. I would sugest reading the manga from the beginning. The manga is better than the anime in my opinion, and soon goes in a totally different direction than the manga

  3. The manga came first, then the anime, and the manga is still going on.

    To time-line it:

The manga started in 2001 as a monthly series.

Two years after its publication, in 2003 it was aired as an anime.

Since the manga was ongoing (and the producers probably couldn't wait till 2009 or so for Hiromu Arakawa. to finish the manga), the plot had most of the manga written in the two years (2001-2003) and then after that it went on its own plot and continued movie.

So - somewhere around chapters 32-35 - something (the encounter with Greed in the Devils Nest) - the plots become completely different.

The manga on the other hand, has been going on, and as of now there are 86 chapters out.

On a sidenote - the manga is more detailed and I personally think - better.

  4. The anime and manga are basically the same for the first 3 volumes..

But at Chapter 16, the storyline changes

So I suggest you start reading at Chapter 16:

    Enjoy~ ^^

  6. its leads to the manga in the archadist section

  7. they both start out the same, but soon the anime had to stop so they rewrote the ending. the manga is incomplete still and ongoing
