I really like singing and I think I'm pretty good at it, and I want to learn how to play guitar. I need a gimmick, you know, I'm boring as h**l.

  1. you are never really finished learning guitar... the professionals you see such as slash, eddie van halen, angus young, kirk hammet...the list goes on...are always constantly exploring new forms of playing and new  techniques to master...now i assume you mean just the basics and that truelly depends on your willingness to learn and how fast you pick up on something new. it is nothing like guitar hero, which anyone could become decent at in a week or two. i've been playing for 3 years and my instructor tells me i've learned very quickly, so to answer your question i guesse 2-3 years to just learn the basics (chords, basic scales) if you want to impress someone and improvise a decent solo well you're looking on 5+ years ( im not shabby at soloing myself                                       ;)...) ...basically it requires practice and determination..you know... bla bla bla

  2. You can easily teach your self.

Search the web, and youtube for videos to teach you the main chords for the guitar.

If you practice hard and do your research, you will learn it in no time!

  3. Sigh... When I see this question... about 20 times a week... I wonder if any advice will work because people who want to learn to play guitar in a hurry are almost NEVER motivated enough to actually LEARN how to play a guitar... I see students like this all the time... they buy some POS cheapo guitar and think they are going to be on the entertainment circuit by the end of the month.. then they learn a few chords... find they can't actually play any songs with their limited knowledge... and QUIT.

Learning the basics can take a year or more and actually learning what to DO with them can take a lifetime.

I have been playing guitar over 50 years and I have NEVER been bored because there is always something new to learn or something old to go back to and  re-learn in a way I could never have understood when I originally learned them.

  4. it's easy 2 learn if ur a fast learner
