In golf, what happens when a ball marker is in the way of a putt?

There are two players on the putting green in direct line to the hole. The person in front marks his ball to let the person behind putt first. But, the marker obviously is raised or is shaped so that the ball will be diverted off course if it runs over the marker. What's the correct etiquette in this situation?

  1. Simple move the mark one putterhead to the right or left of the origanal position.  This is perfectly within the rules.  Just dont forget to move it back, or you will incur a stroke penalty and must re-putt.

  2. if the marker rises more than 1/4 th of an inch above the green than it has to be marked with like a leaf

  3. If you have difficulty keeping your ball within the line after a ball has been spotted 6 inches off your line, then you either have no sense of direction or you are a lousy putter. You can always ask your opponent to mark 3 club heads or more but word will get around that your requests are strange. You may get the name of being the proverbial " pain in the neck "

  4. Usually the front mark is moved left or right using the head of the putter as a guide, then replaced after the other golfer putts.

  5. You can move the ball marker as many putter heads to the right or left as you need it as long as the ball marker is put back in its original spot before the person putts otherwise this will result in a penalty.

    Have a good one...

  6. If someones ball mark is in your expected line for your putt to travel, then you can ask them to move it left or right a putterhead or two, lining it up with a tree or something.

  7. you put your putter in a certain direction you then mark your ball 1 putter length away

and if that's till too close have them do it again
