# 4 is the coffin box because the 3 dogs on the inside are trying to

go to the right and the dogs to the right of the 4 are trying to go

in. so unless the 4 gets a clear lead he is certain to get squeezed

on the 1st turn.

Just like the Government puts spin on stuff they want you to believe, so the bookies put spin of stuff for punters.

If all dogs ran the same then the two middle boxes would have no chance....but that is not so, hence the myth that being drawn in 4 "kills" your chance of winning.. hence "coffin Box" i.e you are putting your money on a dead dog !!

In reality, dogs are graded and placed as far as possible to secure a reasonable run. Dead railers tend to be put in 1 and 2, middle runners in 3 and 4  and wide runners in 5 and 6. That of course would be ideal, but it don't work like that. Sometimes, due to the availability of dogs you may get 4 railers and two wide runners or any other combination. The perfect scenario for Trap 4 is to have 123 as slow railers, four to be a fast starter and 56 to be both wide runners. If you get that... 4 will win more than it loses.."killing" the "coffin Box" theory.

They should ALL be called coffin boxes. Up until last year, less than 25% of 11-12,000 greyhounds that are registered to race in the UK , every year were rehomed. The remaining 75%, some 8-9,000 greyhounds were disposed of, some in horrific circumstances.

The industry made a huge effort last year to portray an image of concerm for their 'units' as they put it. An effort made purely because the public realised just how many greyhounds were being killed and have boycotted the stadiums. Its a disgrace that in the 21st century we can allow this barbaric abuse of animals for pure financial gain.

So next time you go to the dogs........imagine this........the likelyhood is, 4 out of the 6 traps will eventually be coffins for the dogs. Dont go to the dogs......dont bet on it. They are litterally running for their lives.
