  1. Off his trolley.

  2. I don't think so. He is driven to the edge with rage and frustration, but he's aware of what he's doing. It's a very deliberate act he puts on for Ophelia.

  3. He is blind with fury.

  4. Okay initially he acts mad while he figures out what he's going to do about his uncle but inadvertently it's like he slowly is going mad from all the stress.

  5. He acts as if he's mad while he thinks through the situation and tries to understand what's going on. However he does become very stressed and emotional so you could argue he tips into madness.

  6. That is the question.....

  7. i think so

  8. I think "depressed" would be a better term.

He was fully aware of the objective reality about him, much moreso than those about him believed him to be.  He was unsure of precisely what to do about it, and pretty much improvised his "plan" as the play progressed.  He appeared mad because most of the others in the play did not know the facts he knew, and those that did believed him ignorant of them.

  9. There are indications that he is gone insane, but I dont think he is. He feels betrayed and angry because of what has happened

  10. totally open to interpretation. Hamlet is driven to extremes which even he cannot understand through the love of his murdered father. Hamlet openly discusses his state of mind in his solilloquies where he contemplates suicide- 'to be or not to be'. Hamlet most definately becomes depressed, ' this goodly frame the earth seems to me sterile.'

This thirst for revenge against claudius and despair at his own self worth means he certainly resorts to insane behaviour.

Some may say that the acts of maddness. i.e. where Opelia recalls meeting him with his shirt undone, no hat no stockings etc, looking mad. This may be Hamlets plan because he knows Ophelia will tell Polonius, the king and queen and they will think he is insane but harmless.

hope i helped. I did Hamlet at A-level at college but it was over a year ago :s

  11. He is but mad north-north-west.  When the wind is in the east he can tell a hawk from a hand-saw.

  12. I thought hamlet was a small pig
