In high school volleyball can you throw the ball up and let it drop?

i played volleyball with my cousins this summer and some friends and there i was informed that they have made a new rule and you are no longer allowed to drop it even once on the serve!!!!! Tough luck!!!!!

and it really depends on what state you live in and the rules they go by

in my state, you are allowed to let the ball drop, but you can't catch it, but you can only do that once per service rotation

so lets say you throw up the ball and let it drop you can let it drop again until you have gone through a full rotation and its your turn to serve again

In high school, you are allowed to let it drop just once per serve rotation.  After that it is a point for the other team.

Example:  #5 goes back to serve, the ref blows the whistle, #5 tosses and lets it drop.  The ref will blow the whistle again, #5 serves and gets a point.  #5 goes back to serve again and lets the ball drop, now the other team gets a point and the ball.
