  1. When an offensive players crosses into the offensive side before the puck.

  2. A player enters the offensive zone before the puck does. Then when the puck does come in the zone it's offside.

  3. Same as a soccer, but with a line(blue line). Puck has to be passed the blue line before a play can enter the opposing zone. Whether that being the puck gets shot in the zone, or the player skates it in before his team mates cross the line, or at the same time.

In soccer, you can not be past any defender before the ball leaves your team mates foot. It's an invisible line.

All of this is done to create a constant motion as a play, instead of players just hanging around everywhere.

Sort of the same deal, just throwing it out there.

  4. it means your off to the side

  5. when a player on team A crosses the blue line and enters team Bs zone before the puck. That is a delayed offsides, and team A cannot touch the puck until all the players exit team B's zone. If all the players on team A leave team B's zone, the offsides is wiped out and play continues as normal. If the player on team A touches the puck while being offsides, the whistle is blown and there will be a face off.

  6. The puck has to be the first thing into the opposing zone (the far blue line). A player on that team can not precede it in.

In fact, if someone had the puck and skated backwards into the zone, he'd be offsides for that exact reason.

  7. When an attacking team is going into the offensive zone, the puck has to be the first thing that enters the zone, which begins at the blue line.  When a player crosses the blue line (his entire body) before the puck enters the zone, he is in off-side position.  If the attacking team has control of the puck, the whistle will blow to prevent an unfair scoring chance.  If the puck has been dumped in, the whistle will not be blown if the offending player exits and re-enters the zone before his team regains possession.
