In hockey if i send out a player from my bench to stop a breakaway, In the last min. wuts the call?

its to many men but would it be a penalty shot or what

  1. i would think a penalty shot and a un-sportsman like penalty for that player  cause its a bush-league move, i doubt it would be too many men. it depends if McGeough is the ref for the game lol

  4. If he does stop it, it would be a penalty shot. It was a penalty taken denying a reasonable scoring chance.

  5. That is called deliberate illegal substitution.  The penalty for that is a penalty shot.  This would apply to this situation when there is not enough time in regulation or any overtime period to serve the full 2 minutes of a penalty.

    NIPS: That is correct, however it does not need to be deliberate in order for the goal to be awarded.  Whenever the attacking player is in the neutral or offensive zone and any too many men penalty is called the awarded goal is the correct call.
