  1. A horse that continues to run his race, even if he/she is passed or is in close quarters.

  2. it means that they kept going and did not pack in if they were passed.  If they won, it means they finished well.

  3. Running on means after the race is over the horse keeps running strong and shows he has alot of running in him.these other dummys dont know what they are talking about.

  4. it means the horse had no quit.....might have gave up lead but keep

going at the same speed.....it was just beaten by a better horse.

the winner of a race...never has the running line say...he ran on!!!!

  5. These are the horses that the astute punters call their 'black-bookers' ones they back next time up if the track conditions suit.  It refers to a horse that is not the winner but has been noticed to still have some petrol left in the tank at the end of the race and is running on past the beaten runners i.e. it is finishing well when the other horses have come to the end of their run.  It is a good idea to record races and replay them over several times, watching a different horse each time.  That way you can identify a good run that you can back next time.  Also you can often see circumstances occur that may have prevented a horse finishing in a better position in a race, they may have stumbled at the start or been blocked for a run when they were looking to accelerate.
