  1. most top race horses are treated better most human.....

  2. A nice colt gets rewarded by living his life out as a stallion. As a male, I couldn't think of a better life. Can you ?

  3. The trophy will usually have inscribed the horse's name, rider's name, trainer's name, and owners' name. The trophy is for all four! Without any one of them there would be no trip to the winner's circle! Of course, the owner gets the money because what would a horse do with that? And the owner gives the rider and trainer a cut.

  4. because the horse can't say thank you, I have a great trainer

  5. Be realistic, what is a horse going to do with cash!  [Or a title for that matter!]  It is about prestige.  Everybody wants to breed, train, ride or own a winner.

Horses are awarded every year with the Eclipse Awards, as are owners, breeders, trainers and jockeys.

The purse money is split and distributed to the first five horses in the race.  Each racing jurisdiction has different rules for distribution, but the jockey is usually paid a flat fee ($35.00 to $100.00 depending on the purse and order of finish) unless the purse is over a certain dollar amount, in which case the jockey earns 10%.  The trainer usually takes 20% and the remaining 70% goes to the owner.

    Example:  The purse is $100,000.00

          The winner receives $60,000.00

          The jockey gets $6,000.00

          The trainer gets $12,000.00

          The owner gets $42,000.00

Of course, if the owner has any past due bills on the horse, any money won goes to pay the debt and the owner gets whatever is left over.

It can be a bit confusing, because each state has different regulations on purse distribution and jockey fees.

  6. i dunno, but its kinda not fair because the horse has the talent, the skill, and the heart, while the rider just well, rides.

but then again...whats a horse gonna do with 50 grand?

  7. because the horse doesn't have a bank account

  8. they do the rider and the horse does the rider gets the money and the horse gets the fame, by fame i mean it get its pictures in magazines.
