In horse racing what does slow,fast,dead and so on mean next to track?

i have noticed in horse racing it says the name of the

race the distance and the place the race is and then it says

track fast or track slow or track dead or something like that

what does that mean and if it is diffrent in harness racing and gallops could u tell me both

  1. That is the surface of the track..... usually fast is a bit hard

    slow means a bit deep or wet muddy etc

    dead means thats is has no bounce or very bad surface
