  1. No it doesnt hurt them.

They have a very thick hide & the whip isnt designed to hurt them.

And the idiots that say they compare it to a whipping as a kid shouldnt answer the question, do they have skin & hair as thick as a horse?

They most likely have a head on them like a horse & thats about it!

It makes a loud crack to make them extend their stride.

The whip is also used to just wave it past their eye so they can see it, also to make them try over the concluding stages of a race.

Sometimes its only used to slap them down the shoulder.

The jockeys whip has 2 leather flaps that crack when hitting the horse.

We love horses, why would we want to hurt them you F**kwit floyd04???

The R.S.P.C.A monitor jockeys hitting horses with the whip, if it hurt them it wouldnt be allowd.

It is a jockeys tool as is a wrench to a plumber.

Its used to help with the job.

  2. I always feel sorry for the horses :o(

  3. Of course it hurts.  Not enough to cause permanent injury or even a scar, but think of getting a good whipping with a belt when you were a kid.

  4. Generally it doesn't but if they do it aggresively it definetly can

  5. Do you mean the crop?

  6. Well lets see ... try hittting youself with a whip an see if it hurts @.@

  7. crop .... whip No differences,, No,,,,,,,,,,

if you ever see welts on him hire that jockey

    are you from PETA

  8. Proper use of a whip should not hurt the horse.  I have seen instances when a jockey misuses a whip. It happens more often than it should. Horseracing needs reforms now and the use of the whip is one of the issues that needs to be addressed.  Get involved and make your voice heard.

  9. In general, the jockey swings the whip past the horse rather than hits the horse.  Hitting a horse on the shoulder can unbalance him and therefore reduce his stride length and speed.  Sometimes a horse is lazy and needs a 'reminder', when they are hit behind the saddle on the large hind quarter muscle.  This can hurt depending on how hard the jockey hits him.  When I was a stablehand I only every saw one horse who was left with the welt after being hit, and this went down in the half hour after the race.  He was a lazy horse and it was his best ever performance!

So yes, it does hurt, but they aren't hit often and very rarely are they hit hard enough to leave a mark.

  10. SOME SAY WHIP...SOME SAY CROP...I SAY AS LONG

AS LONG AS THEY DON'T STRIKE THE HORSE IN THE

FACE OR HEAD AREA, IT'S ALL-RIGHT....

  11. No. The horse feels it, and it probably stings a little, but there is no injury.  lol :)

  12. i don't hear any horse complaining.

  13. I would guess that it does.  Horse racing is a cruel sport.

  14. if your a member of peta then yess it hurts them...if your educated and unbais then you probly wanna ask this to a vet...no answers.com

  15. yea, he keeps running as fast as he can trying to get away, he dosnt know that his master is slapping him.
