LPG is much denser because it is in liquid form.  That means that the same volume of LPG carries more potential energy than CNG.  This translates to a greater range for each tankfull of fuel.

However, the technology of the fuel delivery system in the automobile is different, so, it's not like the user has a choice about where to obtain fuel.
