In jobs If i want to read and approve books to publish would that be consider a editor?

Whats the real name for that? Would I read a lot in this career. Mostly preferring reading young adult teen like books (fiction) Also about how much would this career pay?

  1. Yes, this would be an editor at a publishing house. Actually, in most cases the editor no longer makes the decision alone...they have to convince the members of an editorial committee to take the book.

    Editors do read a lot, although often the manuscripts are read first by an intern or assistant. Keep in mind that 99 out of 100 manuscripts that you read are not going to be good enough to publish. You may not have a lot of choice in what types of books you work on, especially early in your career.

    Editors can make roughly $60,000 to $120,000 per year. Some make more and those just starting out make less.
