  1. Because he has a couple Nascar Cup Championship's already.

The truck series is the 3rd tier Nascar series.

    Cup is the top series.

  2. Not really sure that's a good question. but i give it to Jimmie, he did excellent (except for the car getting loose and crashing) for a 1st time truck driver. He gave everyone a run for their money more than half the race. GO 48!

  3. 2 Time Champ coming through! 2 Time Champ! Oops this isn't a Sprint Cup race

Seriously He did GREAT for his first time in the truck racing he showed he has the experience and skill accidents happen to anyone (that's why allstate offers you your choice auto...Oh sorry to many commercial during the racing) rookie or not!

I do think he's gotton used to the sprint cup car though driving the truck would be a little different not have that big wing.

  4. good question - maybe there's a champion's provisional that works at lower level series to overrule that. to bad it wasn't a different color to let the other drivers know - "out of my way, two-time cup champion coming through"...

    ;-)

seriously, i believe it is because he has raced at the track before - i have read that drivers who have not raced at a particular track ever before are supposed to wear the stripe. i also believe they have to wear it if they move "up" a series, even at a track where they have raced before. but i don't think you have to wear one moving "down" a series if you have raced there before. and jimmie has raced there before, many times. what confuses me is that i'm pretty sure i haven't seen joey logano, or some other first-time drivers at a track, sporting the yellow stripe either. maybe it is reserved for those brand new to the track and to those racing for rookie of the year. logano and others may not have to sport the yellow stripe if they have successfully tested or run in other series (arca, or camping world east/west maybe) there...

ps. nascar.com has some good articles on rookie stripes, but they are spread here and there. i found one article that mentioned that points leader clint bowyer had to wear a rookie stripe in the nationwide series race in montreal, since he had never been there. it was also mentioned that jason keller, who has started more nationwide races than anyone else, had to wear a rookie stripe there as well:

"That’s because NASCAR considers drivers who have never raced on a particular track to be rookies during that track’s race weekend. And since Keller and CJM didn’t enter the Montreal race last year, he’ll be a rookie this weekend."

  5. looked like he needed one

  6. Randy Moss probably thought the yellow stripes were added by the broadcaster, like they are in football.
