In last years prelude to the dream race, who is to blame for the Elliott-Newman wreck?

I think Newman came up on Bill Elliott.

  1. bill elliot, there was no need to go for the pass since they were both locked into the race


  2. Probably NASCAR or Elliot's spotter. Once a driver gets his nose up under the car in front that becomes his territory. The spotter should have let Elliot know to stay high. NASCAR's rear wing makes it hard for the driver to see behind him. Then again "give and take" could have avoided a wreck this early in the race too.

    Update:

    They just replayed the spotter's radio transmition and it showed that the spotter didn't say anything until it was too late. They had already made contact when the spotter said something.
