Question:

In-laws and favoritism?

My in-laws favor their daughter over all the other siblings. She has a lot of problems: drug use, various babies from different men, etc. They are constantly with her and constantly buying her things. They don't seem to care less about the other siblings and/or their children. I find it very hurtful. Why would they do this?

  1. Maybe they feel sorry for her.

  2. Don't worry about it too much.  The other siblings are stronger people because of it.  On the other hand, the parents are enabling their daughter to behave this way.  Why should she change when they're rewarding her bad behavior?

  3. I am sure they in no way are showing favoritism, it is just that this one child needs them more than the others - I am sure they love all their children equally, but the others have to also understand that this one child is a soul searching and needs more continued assistance from their parents.  One day you will understand, I hope your eye opener isn't in the form of a drug use, etc., but nonetheless you will understand, one day.    God Bless.

  4. They are there for her because she needs the most help i would say.

  5. They don't love her more.  The other siblings are probably dong well but this sister is not therefore needs more help, to be shown more love and attention and to feel sorry for.

You and your other siblings should be happy that you are in a better shape than she is.  Let her have the attention she needs and maybe one day she will go straight.
