  1. No, Joseph Smith is more on the level of Peter, Paul, Moses, etc. Jesus is on His own level, no one is His equal.

  2. Christ is not on the same level as Joseph Smith. The LDS consider Smith to be a prophet, but Heavenly Father is still the ultimate authority.

    Hermes, I agree.

  3. Please take a look at this..

    ITS BABY Joseph Smith ...

Heres a good article on failed prophecies...

    JOSEPH SMITH AS A PROPHET

    http://www.exmormon.org/prophet.htm

Five prophecies fulfilled out of the sixty-five or so found recorded!!

    Jesus and Joseph Smith

    http://www.utlm.org/onlineresources/jesu...

    Brigham Young stated...

"...no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith.... Every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance... I cannot go there without his consent.… He reigns there as supreme a being in his sphere, capacity, and calling, as God does in heaven." (vol. 7, p. 289)

    Supreme Being??

While present-day Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith, there seems to be evidence that Smith wanted to elevate himself almost to the same level as Jesus Christ.

The History of the Church contains some statements which seem to show that Joseph Smith felt he was almost equal with God:

    Smith Stated....

"God made Aaron to be the mouth piece for the children of Israel, and He will make me be god to you in His stead, and the Elders to be mouth for me; and if you don't like it, you must lump it." (vol. 6, pp.319-320)

  4. No one is on the same level as Jesus Christ.  He is our Savior and Redeemer.  It is the job of a Prophet to tell us about salvation and the Savior.  To declare the Gospel to the world.

  5. the LDS is more complex than that (to be honest I see it as a giant pyramid scheme - but others do not, I'm sure).

Healthier by far is a faith that only has love, or even, honestly, a total lack of faith (atheism) rather than any quasi fundamentalist or fundamentalist faith group.

    Kind thoughts,

    Hermes

  6. Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world - without him there is nothing.  Joseph Smith, Jr. is a prophet of God that spent his life testifying of the divinity of Christ.  So no, they are not the same.

Where the confusion arises is that there are some historical quotes that reference Joseph as a judge or way to salvation that are taken out of context and twisted to mean something that has never been taught by the LDS church.

The connection between Joseph and salvation is the same as the relationship of salvation to any prophet of God.  They are a path to god in that they teach those living in their time about God and lead them to the path that will end in Salvation.  But Salvation comes through Christ, not the prophets.  The prophets are simply guides to Christ, and therefore, salvation.

    Make sense?

  7. The only way that we can be saved is through the atonement of Jesus Christ.  He is our Saviour and redeemer and not Joseph Smith.

You hear other religions talk about "Saint Peter letting people in at the pearly gates".  In other words they're saying that they're judged by saint Peter.

I've heard people speculate that there will be delegation involved in the Judgment.  Peter might help judge those that lived in his dispensation just as Joseph Smith could help judge those that lived in his.

Just something to consider.  I'm not in the mood to go fishing for sources, so it's just my opinion for now.
