In light of some recent... accidents?

Question

How would you react if, hypothetically speaking, the winners of the Stanley Cup dropped it and broke it while hoisting it in the air? Would you laugh? Would you cry? How would the players react?

"Oh... my bad..."

(I'm still laughing about the Memorial Cup, by the way... I know he didn't actually drop it, but still.)

Joe what you trying to say about Ozzie..... but i do think it would just be another chapter in the story on the abuse of the Cup.  I actually wouldn't be surprised to learn it had been droped before.  Well droped on the ice, after all it has ended up in some strange places, rivers and pools.

It has probably been dropped....think of all of the different players and all of the rituals it's been through.  Some hockey player all snapped up one night MUST have dropped it....just not on national television.  And maybe some where along the way, it has probably needed some touch ups.

If it were dropped on national tv though, I think that would go down in the history books.  If it were ME who dropped it, I would probably cry!

I think they'd have to drop it and Ozzie sit on it for it to be damaged but yes I would laugh..Everything is fixable.

i could care less if they drop the trophy and break it, im pretty sure it wont be the end of the world

I would laugh.  That would be nothing compared to some of the other stuff that has happened to the cup.



Like that one time it wasn't punted into a river and then forgotten when the team left.  Only to be picked up the next morning.

As  someone that plays, i have seen a few trophies break. Luckily not ours. But It is both funny and sad at the same time. I think the Stanley Cup would dent. I think it would take a whole lot to actually break it. I think we will see a player hit himself in the head with the cup(it slipping out of his hands while he has it over his head) before we see that cup break

What happened?  Is the Memorial Cup broken now?

That Stanley Cup has been dropped and kicked so much, what's one more drop?  Besides, that thing is tough enough to withstand a seven foot fall, easily.

Added: I just saw the video.  That was ridiculous.

I might laugh for about a second. Then I would feel for the player that dropped it. Just like I did when I saw what happened to the Memorial cup. But I think the Stanley cup is much sturdier than that. Dents sure,break no,

when the cup went to anaheim.

I heard I was dropped on the floor when I was born so it follows that if a teammate of mine dropped it and the bowl became detached, I would place the bowl on my head and pretend the rest of the trophy was a beer keg, hoist it above my head and emulate that guy on an old 1980's battery commercial that said "Oy,oy,oy" as he pumped it up and down.

It wouldn't break.  It would dent.  That has happened before.

The Memorial Cup is of a different construction - a fancy cup up top, a very thin connection to the large base.  The connection is what broke.

I swear, I can see Ed Chynoweth in Heaven laughing his wings off at what happened today.  LOL.

I would say some words that I cannot put on Y!A, I would also be very mad. My bets are that Chelios will drop it! jkjk
