In magic the gathering, If I activate an ability and in response someone destroys my artifact how does it resolve ?

In example , I got an Exalted Angel and some one destroys my Angel with an artifact, and in response I play disenchant and destoy the artifact, how does it resolve ? Does my angel still get destroyed even if I destroyed the artifact in response ?

due which rule does this work ?

  1. Removing the source of an ability does nothing to the ability. Think of it this way, you fire an arrow at me. After you fire the arrow, I destroy your bow. Even though the bow is gone, the arrow is still on its way to the target.

End result: The artifact and your angel are destroyed.

  2. Every spell goes onto a game zone called the stack. Once the stack is filled, the whole stack resolves in the "Last in, first out" order common in the world of Computing.

In this case, The effect to destroy Exalted Angel is put onto the stack first. Then, Disenchant is on the stack, targeting the artifact.

Disenchant will resolve first, destroying the artifact. However, the effect of the artifact is already activated, and the angel will be destroyed. It's like me throwing a grenade at you. If you kill me in response, you will still get hit by the grenade.

    Hope that helped.

  3. borg is correct, however you have to remember the Stacking Ability. Which means the last spell played resolves first. In otherwords, he activates artifact, you plays disenchant, and then hypotheticly you play Nameless inversion. Namless inversion happens first, then disenchant destroying the artifact and then the angel is destroyed.
