Hello,

I am using a regular dvd that holds 4.7GB space of data to create a "data disc." I don't want to use it for music or movies just data.

The problem is that the folder that I have is too large (more than 4.7GB) to fit the dvd.

I have tried to compress it into a zip file but even after I have compress it into a zip file it is still to big to fit the 4.7GB dvd.

What are my options???

How can I make it fit???

Is there any free softwares that would compress the files even further?

Thanks for the help!

  1. Try WinRAR, its a popular compression software.  It MIGHT compress the data more than WinZip.

You might just have to split your data into 2 disks, or buy some double layer DVDs which have a capacity of about 8.3gigs.
