  1. you can start in first or second but you burn the clutch by going in second so first is the best choice unless its downhill then go with second gear....

  2. It completely depends on the vehicle. Many passenger cars and trucks work best in second. I drove a truck that was geared so low for heavy loads that when I was empty I would start off in third. If I had a heavy load I'd need first.

  3. 1st...are you for real? lol

  4. I start off at 3rd gear, and then I don't use the clutch for the rest of them. :-) But then again, I drive a Freight-liner Columbia S/T. On very heavy loads I start off in 1st, specially on those uphill grade lights, cause some dumb 4 wheeler is probably about to kiss my trailer's ICC bumper /drafting.

On a car you would want to start of in 1st, for otherwise you gonna kill the clutch and the syncs.

  5. when moving towards a traffic light decrease speed so 1st gear can be reached, but when accelerating out of the light it is important to switch out

  6. Keeping the clutch pedal down, put the car into first gear by moving the gearshift to the top-left position.

  7. You start from 1st gear if you are starting off from a complete stop.

  8. Now this one has to with common sense.

Gears go from 1st to 5th plus  reverse.

If you live on the 4th floor you have to go past the 1st floor, it is not Star Trek and teleportation.

Please don't ask this kind of questions.

  9. every time u need to start from 1st gear.

  10. Tazboy,

Start off in first gear - unless you're driving on snow or ice. If you're on snow or ice start in second, and keep your speed way down if you're going down hill by staying in second or third.

  11. You should start in first gear until you learn to drive the car, then you will know when you can start in second.

  12. 1st it is easier on the engine. To start off in 2nd you would need to raise the RPM up.
