  1. There is a technical term called "Slug" for the scrap piece that is produced when a hole is punched in a piece of metal.

    In piercing operation , the "slug" is the scrape.

    Other words you can use like "throw away", "waste" or simply metal scrape.

    "molding flash" is the term used for plastic punching.
