yeah. you can ask for one or your team just trades you to match their needs

edit- bondman i was the best starting pitcher in the league and i was still traded. i think it was for two prospects and a veteran. its like you being a prospect being traded for a veteran reversed

Yeah, your player can be traded. It's kind of random, you don't really have much influence over the matter other than to tick off the team through the "interactions" menu on the career home. Sometimes they'll trade you while you're young for another player in a "prospect for veteran" type deal but once you establish yourself and are signed to a significant contract you usually won't get traded at all.
