  1. Monaco is a principality of France, a kingdom once ruled by a reigning King. Therefore, as a principality, the head of state is the Soverign Prince or Princess. Currently, His Serene Highness Prince Albert is the reigning soverign of Monaco. As he has no legitimate heirs, his sister HSH Princess Caroline, Princess of Hanover and Herediary Princess of Monaco is his heir. Thereafter, Andrea, Charlotte, and Pierre Casiraghi, and Princess Alexandra of Hanover are next in line!

  2. Monaco is a Principality.  That means the leader is a Prince.  It was set up that way as a separate part of France, and will revert back to France if there is no male heir.

  3. Ahhh I miss the sage advice of a good Herald! Principalities are generally, but not always, divisions of kingdoms, like Wales. Without a kingdom, one cannot be King!

    SCA lives on.

  4. Monaco has been governed as a constitutional monarchy since 1911, with the Sovereign Prince of Monaco as Head of state. The term is also sometimes used as a generic term for any monarchy, especially for other small sovereign states ruled by a Monarch of a lesser rank. The reason the there is no king of Monaco is that it is not a kingdom. Monaco is a principality.

  5. The Constitution states that the head of state is the Reigning Prince or Princess of Monaco and he is the sovereign monarch

    that's why
