I'm trying to figure out which strategy card to look at in preparation for a trip to a casino. Some cards say "single-deck" and some say "multiple-deck". What is more common in casinos?

  1. Multiple deck is far more common than single deck.

And most single deck now mostly pays 6-5 for a player blackjack instead of 3-2, a big disadvantage to the player.

    A couple tips for you.

Here are some rule variations and how they affect your chances, be sure to try to pick tables with the BEST rules!

    Favourable Rules for the Player

    Early surrender +0.62%

    Late surrender Single deck +0.02%

    Double down after splitting +0.13%

    Drawing to split aces +0.14%

    Re splitting of aces +0.03%

Double down cards any number +0.20%

    2:1 payoff blackjack +2.32%

    Unfavourable Rules for the Player

no doubling on hard 11 -0.89%

no doubling on hard 10 -0.56%

no doubling on hard 9 -0.14%

    no doubling soft hands -0.14%

    dealer hits soft 17 -0.20%

dealer takes no hole card -0.13%

    2 decks (v single) -0.35%

    4 decks (v single) -0.51%

    6 decks (v single) -0.60%

    pairs no re splitting -0.05%

While you are at the casino, be sure to get a players card, for some comps (freebies) based on your play, and here is a way to get more comps when you do play blackjack in a land based casino.

Also, you may wish to check out a system to play Blackjack that is not based on card counting, but does give the player an advantage in multi-deck shoes.

It is called the Blackjack Betting Trigger, and it can indicate when the probabilities are favorable to the player, meaning that you should raise your bet, and when they are unfavorable, signaling a bet reduction.

You can get if for free through a special offer for a limited time, and more Information about the Blackjack Betting Trigger can be found here:

    Good luck at the tables!

  2. multiple deck strategy varies DRAMATICALLY from single deck strategy.

Multiple deck games are far more common than single deck games, and its worth noting that due to rules employed most single deck games have a house edge 3 or 4 times that of multiple deck games.

You should learn multiple deck strategy first

One thing to be aware of is the still varriing startegy based on varriing rules of mutiple deck, the rules that effect playing strategy the most are:

-Doubling after splitting allowed/not allowed:  This effects many plays in the splitting category

-Doubling on 10/11 only:  this really doesnt change the strategy memorisation part since the only plays this changes you wont be allowed to make anyways, but strategy does change.

-Dealer hits a soft 17: only one play changes on this, it becomes correct to double soft 19 vs 6 thats about it

-surrender:  surrender is valuable if you take advantage of it but you must memorise when it is the correct play

If you buy a basic strategy card make sure it is for the correct combination of rules you will be playing against so that you can play correctly, you can varify the strategy/rule combinations here using this tool  http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bjbse.php

  3. In Vegas most casinos use multiple-decks, and the very few that use single deck is the awful 6-5 payout on blackjack. I believe that maybe Downtown Vegas has some regular 3-2 blackjack with single deck. If you need some more gambling info www.wizardofodds.com is the best there is out there.

    Good Luck.

  4. A lot of casinos have mostly multiple deck Blackjack. That is, they use at least 2 decks and I've seen up to 6. But most casinos will have maybe 1-5 tables with single deck because some people like a single deck game. Single deck games allow the fast thinkers to remmeber which cards have been dealt. If you're trying to figure out which strategy card to buy, I would buy both. Only because I know it's not too expensive to buy both. But to be practical, just buy the multiple deck strategy card.

  5. In Vegas most strip hotels use multi deck shoes, while downtown you may have more double decks though Binions may have some single decks working, and maybe the El Cortez (dble for sure) . Just play basic strategy and do not worry about the complex strategy and counting systems, because they require many hours, hotel changes, shift changes, and if you are not prepared to grind it  out 40 hours a week, and are not playing max limit black jack, then its best to play good basics, and when a lucky run comes then take it up reguardless of count. Play the rushes.

  6. Most casinos in the U.S. only offer multi-deck blackjack. Vegas has a lot of single and double-deck blackjack. They do require different strategies when counting and/or using a strategy card.

If you do play single deck, try to find one that still pays 3:2 for a blackjack. Most single deck tables only pay 6:5 which raises the house advantage.

    Good luck!
