  1. This typically means that some "difficult" topics are addressed during the show.  Topics such as...sexuality, infidelity, rape, homosexuality, racism, sexism, divorce, war, drugs, drinking & driving, violence, etc. may be addressed.

Some families may not consider these topics to be something they would want their children to view at this stage in their lives, so they recommend that families consider what their children are watching and judge accordingly whether they think the child is at a mental-development stage where they can understand or handle these topics.

One of the first shows to dive directly into these types of "situations" was the TV series, "All in the Family" starring Carroll O'Connor and Jean Stapleton.

  2. Well, it's PG, so what you see will be very minor and unless you were very sheltered growing up, you might not recognize it. It would be easier if you gave me a movie for an example, but even something as simple as the suggestion of a woman delivering a baby might fall under this category. Anything that might provoke a very young child to say, "Mommy, what is that?" or "Where do baby's come from?" You get what I'm saying?

  3. It means situations that an adult can go through -marriage, divorce, jobs, birth of a baby, death, etc. and how the adult handles the situation.
