I'm putting alot more away into it than 33%. On top of that my wife is putting $5000 max into a roth IRA. Should i not be putting over the 33% of my match into the 401K, and be putting it into a roth IRA. Even when my wife is already putting it into a roth IRA? Because when i retire in 20 years my tax backet will be alot more?

  1. i would say max out the 401K (15K would be the max i believe) and then if there is extra put it in to a Roth IRA, better to save a little more then not enough and not be able to retire when you want.

Also matching 33% of your salary is unique. double check that that is correct. i have heard of matching dollar for dollar the first 4% and then half of the next 2 but matching dollar for dollar 1/3 of your salary is very high.
