In my book it says EARTH IS FLAT, it was tossed like a pancake from heaven above?

and spread out just like a carpet so nobody would fall off it had it been made any different.When my book was written it was observed with the naked eye in a desert that all seems flat, and so it was written!

I have proof in my Holy book! Here:

1) And rich carpets (all) spread out.

2) And at the Earth, how it is spread out?

I don't think you've been keeping up on your college physics.   If you ask a physicist about the curvature of earth....they'll say its flat since the curvature is nearly zero........8 inches / mile.......

Yes the earth is flat , Can't you see the floor under your feet is flat and spread like a carpet ?

Do you think if you lived at the time of prophet Muhamed and he told you Allah is saying that the earth is round like an egg , what will be your reaction ? Do you think you'll believe Allah ? whether Allah said the earth is round or flat you still wouldn't believe .

I think i understand the context of this verse and i reverted to Islam a few months ago only!

Allah (SWT) said the earth was egg-shaped---'dahaha'-----the meaning of this word has been clarified-----from my knowledge

please look it up and study Islam and the Holy Qur'an.

He made the earth egg-shaped 79:30

From it, He produced it's own water and pasture 79:31

He established the mountains 79:32

All this to provide life support for you and your animals 79:33

Yusuf Ali Translation

And the earth, moreover, hath he extended (to a wide expanse); 79:30

He draweth out therefromits moisture and its pasture; 79:31

And the mountains hath He firmly fixed; 79:32

For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 79:33

The 88:16 is referring to heaven according to my limited knowledge

The 88:20 yes the earth is a huge expanse and is spread out beyond sight----but i don't get how that is interpreted as 'flat'-----please enlighten me

As i said i have only limited knowledge as i am just learning more each day about Islam------but from my own take in reading the Holy Qur'an everything makes perfect sense and there are no contradictions from my take on it, with science or anything else-----the Qur'an actually is hugely scientific----even telling us how this earth was first formed-------

These are my opinions only with some references-----in relation to my capability of understanding, learning and my wee knowledge of the sciences!

Evidence shows that the earth is not a perfect sphere-----some have said it is ellipsoid, others have used the term geoid-------but science is still only discovering the exact shape!------seems to me like the Holy Qur'an contained something hugely scientific and logical all those 1400 years ago?

He has created the Heavens and the Earth for Truth. He wraps the night up in the day, and wraps the day up in the night. (Qur'an, 39:5)

In the Qur'an, the words used for describing the universe are quite remarkable. The Arabic word which is translated as "to wrap" in the above verse is "takwir." In English, it means "to make one thing lap over another, folded up as a garment that is laid away." For instance, in Arabic dictionaries this word is used for the action of wrapping one thing around another, in the way that a turban is put on. The information given in the verse about the day and the night wrapping each other up includes accurate information about the shape of the world. This can be true only if the Earth is round.

Now add this to what you mentioned above and you get the whole picture.
