In my garage i need maximum load to lift with chain block is 3 ton at center of 6.3meter long beam, my existing beam (size is 128mm) unable to lift 3 ton load, so advise which size of beam i can use.

  1. Not sure what you are asking.  I am not engineer, but you need a wide flange beam.  3 tons is a lot of weight.  For a 7 meter beam, I would think at  least 250+ with at least 100 flange.  Also, like a chain, your rigging is only as good as the weakest link.  Floor to top and back to the load!


  2. How is anybody suppose to know what kind of beam you're talking about? 128mm could be referring to anything from a 1/2" thick steel ibeam to a wodden 2x6.

    Hanging 3 tons from a 20 foot long beam would require at least an 8" 3/8" thick ibeam. Smaller beams would be strong enough, but they'd flex too mucxh and pull the ends in.
