Question:

In my serve, i have a tendecy to bend my back?

even if i dont have to chase my toss

and if i play for long periods of time my back starts to hurt

have any tips i could use to help straighten my back on my serve?

  1. Do you mean bend forward like McEnroe used to on his service motion or arch back like Edberg did big time. Either way stretch before and after you play and it should get better. If you play near a health club or at a club with a sauna or steam room use it to help you loosen up before and after playing. Also take a muscle relaxant or Tylenol about 3 hours before you play - helps me. I both bend and arch.


  2. You bend your back forward or backward? ugh! that really hurts? then do the warm up stretch every time before you play tennis. ..or maybe you have to change to badminton where you don't have to bend your back when you serve...

  3. that's a good question because that also happens to me. Just try to concentrate on not bending your back and try to hit a serve without any spin on it. Maybe that would help.
