I thought , it would be a good chance to see Paris for the first time. But don't want to spend lots of money and also not to miss my second flight.

  1. Paris' Charles de Galle airport is quite a long way from the city center. You need to carefully consider if spending literally an hour or two in downtown Paris is worth risking missing your connecting flight.

The lowest cost and most reliable transport for a quick visit is the train. The Paris metro (underground) is connected to the airport via the RER (Réseau Express Régional  or  "Regional Express Network"). Check with your airline or an airport info desk after arrival in Paris for additional advice. For example, make sure the train workers aren't scheduled to go on strike the day you arrive.

Also do some research and decide exactly where you want to go for your brief visit - Paris is HUGE.  Most of the famous sites (such as Notre Dame and the Louvre) have metro stops within a block or two.

  2. Recently I had the same experience and was faced with the same decision, however I did France previously.

By the time you are out of the airport, exchanged money to take public transportation into the city and find your way around some time would have passed.  Realize you have to be back two or three hours prior to next flight take off, clear their customs and immigration and possibly pay an additional airport tax.

I just killed the time reading a book and studied all the other people to guess what nationality or ethnic they were.
