In myyahoo.com french characters are crazy; in monyahoo.fr all is well. How to fix myyahoo?

Question

in both versions I have autodetect set at Off and am using the same western (Windows -a252) encoding. Yet the English version is from alphabets that I don't know I have, and would happily get rid of if I knew how.

This problem did not exist 2 years ago.
