  1. I just finished "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. Judging by the depressing books you listed above, you would love this book. It has to do with a nuclear war aftermath and a father trying to keep his young son alive in a world where it doesn't' make much sense to even bother. The writing is so good I felt completely spent when I finished it.
