In need of a great baker who will ship cakes

I want to get my daughter a unique cake for her birthday this year but I am having trouble finding a really good baker. Does anyone know of a company who makes really great cakes and will ship them?

Charm City DOES NOT SHIP - they deliver only 4-6 hours from Baltimore, MD and only if you want to spend $1000 or more on a cake.

Best advice is to find a local baker in a close by city, you may also be able to find some independent bakers, try your local culinary school.

I did a cake for my husband's birthday from Charm City and we were actually on the Ace of Cakes season 3 finale ( the one with the superbowl cake) and it was kind of a neat way to celebrate the big 5 0, but what made it really awesome is that these guys are the nicest bunch of people.   The cake was only $560 and served like 40 people.

It's a bummer that you can't get them to do you something.  

Try Cakelove bakery.  They ship.  I don't know how fancy they get...but that is some crazy good cake.

you can look on etsy.com.

its basically a listing of small businesses that make really unique products! look under "categories" and look at "plants & edibles" for cakes. they used to ship ice cream, and it was really great!
