i am currently in grade11 and am considering to become a doctor after school. wat are some of the requirements needed to be accepted into medical school? And if you are a medical student: wat advice would you give to prospective medical students?

  1. First, work on your spelling, punctuation, and grammar.  Take all of the English and communications (speech and composition) classes you can.  Second, become a master of mathematics and the sciences, especially the life sciences.

    If you can't handle the basics, you won't make it through the advanced stuff.


  2. Once you've mastered the art of spelling, I would suggest lots of work experience in both primary (GP) and secondary (hospital) care. Most people going into medicine have no idea what they are letting themselves into, and this explains the apathy I see amongst medical students. I appreciate work experience can be hard to organise, but 5 years at medical school, and a whole bunch of debt, is not something you want to enter into lightly.

    As for requirements, due to the competitiveness of medical school, you would need to be predicted 3 As at A level, including at least 2 sciences, of which 1 has to be chemistry.
