Have had sleep problems for most of my life say 10+ years been on several medications and currently taken xanax for my sleep problem. But doc said in order to get a sleeping med say lunesta or the ambien I need insurance authorized for it. Plus my doc said I could only get 10 day supply as they are for short term use. Any alternative for this? What would you advice?

  1. I don't understand why your doctor said you can only have Lunesta or Ambien for short term, I took both of those at different points for many months.  For some they are great, but I had side effects from it.  If your doctor is telling you you will only be able to get a 10 day supply I would suggest seeing another doctor, as that information is incorrect since some people need sleep medication for years.  You can always try taking a couple of Tylenol PM, they tend to knock people out very well.  Not sure why you were on Xanax for sleep problems either.. I suggest another doctor.

  2. I work for a primary doctor if your doctor will write you a script for lunesta in a generic form your insurance will pay for it also they will pay for ambien in generic it's alot less cost he should give you aleast a 30 day to see if it will help.

If he wont do this then I would indeed seek another doctor

    Good luck hope this helps

  3. you can always try an online pharmacy.  I use http://www.licensed-rx.com/ambien.php?ai... to order ambien for myself, I only need it a few times a week, so it's nice to have on hand for when I do need it.
