i am writing a children's book. i am trying to incorporate some kind of lesson about the envirronement. I wanted to do it on marine life. i need something simple, but it has to be true.

ex: fish get stuck in plastic stuff we trow in the ocean

but that is too specific. and kids have to be able to relate to it. Please help, or give me sites that can.

PS: it would be awesone if it was on a cool marine animal, not just an ordinary fish.

  1. Man, what an original idea. Writing a kids book with green messages. F*ckin brilliant.

  2. sea turtles eat squids, plastic clear bags in the ocean resemble swimming squid and the turtles eat this by mistake and get sick and die.

plastic 6 pack holders water fowl get there necks/beaks tangled in them, have a goofy albatross get one of these stuck on him and a fish(you pick the species) helps him by getting a cranky crab to cut it off him.(deals with friendship, cooperation and garbage in the ocean)

  3. Try looking up how dolphin and wheals are getting trapped in nets, and other stuff. I know there has been a lot of birds getting hung up in old plastic coke rings, and the like. There has been several geese caught up in thing like that right around here. PS try this http://seagrant.mit.edu/education/resour...

  4. Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi is publishing a fortnightly magazine namely 'Down To Earth' and this magazine is having a supplement magazine 'Gobar Times' which is being brought out on environmental issues mainly for school children.

So, you can browse the following websites and get lot of environmental information mainly indented for school children.

    www.gobartimes.org

    www.cseindia.org

    www.downtoearth.org.in
