In need of volunteer opportunity for spanish-speaker...?

Hi,

I'm a volunteer computer instructor and I need help with one of my students. She is a spanish-speaker in her 30's nd has expressed she would like to volunteer as well.

She's chosen to work with "old people" (as stated in an e-mail), but I don't know where she would be best suited since her English is limited. As far as I know her work expereince consists of part-time jobs.

Any ideas? I'd like to know a place that can use her Spanish skills without her needing to know any English. (so I don't have to go through every step with her like creating resumes, interview, etc)

Thank you!

  1. Look for agencies in your area that are focused on Latinos or immigrants -- not just "help" organizations, but also organizations that celebrate Latino heritage. If I knew what city you are in, I could help further.

  2. what state/city do you work in?

  3. Some nursing homes may have people who only speak Spanish who would like to have someone to talk to.
