In new york he can not sign away his rights? my lawyer told me that .. why?

i do not want to collect child support, and do not want him to have visitation.. i KNOW he will agree to this.. why cant this happen

  1. Unfourtanately,  That is the way the cookie crumbles.  It seems that they always want to give the father rights even if they don't want them.  I am dealing with the same mess in MD.

Because the courts look out for the child's best interest, even when the dad is an a-h ol e who would gladly sign away his rights so he won't have to pay child support.  He can only sign his rights away if you were to marry and your new husband agrees on taking on parental duties and support for your child.
