would be used at level flight? (At an altitude of 12,000 metres)

Would this be the pretty much the correct altitude for going from Dublin Ireland to Barcelona?(the flying time is just under 2 hours)

  1. That's like the question 'how long is a piece of rope'...

    It depends on the rope.

How much throttle is needed at an altitude is a factor of several things.  First, what airspeed are you desiring.  Second, what aircraft are you flying?  Third, what  is your length of flight (in hours)?  Fourth, how much fuel do you have on board? Fifth, what are your winds aloft?

I'm assuming you are talking about a jet aircraft, probably a commercial airliner.  If that's the case, give us the type of aircraft, and we can give you a better answer.

If it is a commercial airliner, I'd think 12,000 meters is probably not the right altitude.  I'd think it would be higher.  But, then, I've never flown that route.

Get us some more details, and let's see if we can get you an answer more suitable...
