Is it the one that has grooves (s***w?) Is it opposite of collar end?

Drift (as a noun)

the sentence is “Tubing will be drifted with the proper size drift while running in the well. Any tubing that does not drift, or otherwise damaged will be marked and laid down separate from the good tubing.”

Power tongs: what are they, and what do they do?

  1. The pin end is the end of a tube that treads into the collar end.

    A drift is long tool used to clear tubing (casing) or pipe of any debris, like rust I guess.

    Power tongs are used to tighten joints of casing before they are permanently put into the ground. They will tighten to a specific torque value.

    Centralizers are used to stabilze the casing as it is run into the hole. Basically it has a larger diameter so is presses against the bore hole wall.
