In opposition to this view is one in which religion is seen as functional or good for a society.

Some of the social movements and especially the civil rights movement of the 1960's have their roots in religion. How do you think that religion can be a positive force in a society?

  1. No, the world is what it is today because of religion.

Religion has been the reason for most wars, tragedies and sufferings of humanity just because every one wishes the other human being to follow his God.

  2. All religions basically preach the same thing. Don't lie, steal, commit adultery, murder etc. So how can they be bad for society? If everyone had a little religion in them, I'm sure you would have a better society.
