In order to be a pharmacy tech is an on line certificate acceptable when applying for jobs in this field?

I know for some companies no certificate is needed and they will provide training but I would like to obtain the certificate anyway prior to applying for a job in this field. I do not want to waste my time or money if they do not recognize an on line certificate as valid training. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated!

  1. you don't need a state license...honestly those online courses for becoming a pharm tech are a waste of time. you would do yourself a much bigger favor by volunteering in a pharmacy - they love that. most of the stuff you need to know come with experience, not by memorizing for online courses because every store and hospital has different policies and different drugs.

try to volunteer- it's free, you'll learn a h**l of a lot and you have your foot in the door at getting a job.

best of luck and any further questions email me- dasilver@eden.rutgers.edu

  2. An online certificate is the same as no certificate.  You need a state license.
